What We Build

Piers Built For The Chesapeake

Every pier we build starts with your shoreline — not a template. We assess water depth, soil type, fetch exposure, and tidal range before we ever draw a line. The result is a structure that fits your property and holds up against Bay conditions for decades.

We use CCA-treated southern yellow pine pilings, 316 stainless hardware, and composite decking as our standard build spec. If your shoreline calls for deeper pilings or reinforced framing for a boat lift, we engineer that in from day one.

Built To Your Shoreline, Not A Template

We have built piers on exposed fetch lines, in protected coves, and on everything in between. The engineering changes — the quality does not.

What We Build

Three Build Categories

01

Residential

Single-family piers from 60 to 250 ft. T-heads, ramps, finger piers, and integrated lifts. Built for private waterfronts and HOA-approved community docks.

02

Commercial

Marina slips, restaurant docks, and multi-family waterfront access. Engineered to commercial load standards with full ADA compliance available.

03

Fixed Piers

Pile-supported fixed structures for deeper water and high-traffic use. The standard build for the Chesapeake — stable, low-maintenance, decades of service.

Common Questions

Piers & Docks FAQ

How long does a typical pier or dock build take?

Most residential piers take 3-6 weeks from the start of pile driving to final walkthrough. Permitting adds 3-5 months before construction begins, but we handle that entire process in-house.

What permits do I need for a new dock in Maryland?

You will need a Joint Federal/State Permit from MDE and the Army Corps of Engineers, plus any local critical area approvals. We prepare, submit, and track every permit so you only sign where we tell you.

How much does a custom pier cost on the Chesapeake Bay?

Pricing depends on length, width, water depth, soil conditions, and features like lifts or T-heads. Most residential piers on the Bay fall between $50,000 and $200,000. We give firm quotes after the site visit.

What is the difference between a pier and a dock?

A pier is the fixed walkway structure extending from shore over the water. A dock is the floating or fixed platform at the end where you tie up your boat. We build both as a single engineered system.

Do composite decks hold up in saltwater environments?

Yes. Modern composite decking is engineered for marine exposure — UV-stable, mold-resistant, and backed by 25-year warranties. It will not rot, splinter, or require annual staining like pressure-treated lumber.

Can you add a boat lift to an existing pier?

In many cases, yes. We assess the existing pilings and framing to determine if they can support the lift load. If reinforcement is needed, we engineer that into the project scope.
